The Mission
Unite 281 is leading a community effort to petition the school board to place a new referendum measure on the November ballot.
 
Who Can Sign?
Signers do not need to be registered voters.  Any resident of District 281 who is at least 18 years old can sign the petition.
 
What can you do?
Please download and print out the petition and have your friends and neighbors sign it.  Then, return it via US mail to the address printed on the form by June 10, 2008.
 
The Urgency
The budget cuts enacted thus far are already devastating.

• Ninety-nine teachers have been cut.
• Class sizes are increasing significantly.
• High school algebra classes will exceed 40 students.
• First grade classes of almost 30.
• Gifted and talented programming has been cut.
• Art specialists have been cut.
• After school activities have been cut.

And the projected cuts for the following year will be even worse.

This is only the beginning. We must act in order to preserve the quality of education our schools.
